I wanted to be good, I wanted to be great

Make the world all smiles and sunshine

But I saw it couldn’t be, ’twas always too late

A burden too big to be mine

Through foggy nights I’ve fondled dreams

Of how the dawn should be

But a glaring sun in this darkness seems

A deception to me

Still, strive I will, to be a star

Tiny though I know I’ll stay

For if that speck should light a heart

The night shall outshine the day

A wayward thinker hiding behind the facade of necessary courtesies
